Andy Spence - Group Bathroom Design Consultant

Route to current position

Having spent a number of years in the bathroom trade, I started work with Haldane Fisher as a Showroom Manager in the Lisburn branch. I have always had a passion for good design and so designing customer bathrooms was, for me, one of the most satisfying parts of the job. We were increasingly being presented with larger schemes that required more design expertise and thus more time, so the business felt there was a real need for a dedicated bathroom design consultant within the wider business.

Best bits about your job
I enjoy all aspects of my job but mainly the challenge of providing both a design that works well and one that is aesthetically pleasing. I also enjoy meeting the client to discuss design ideas, identifying the demands of the space within which we are working, and applying good plumbing practices. Clients can often get confused by the level of choice available, but through my extensive product knowledge I can steer them through the selection process, hopefully making it a pleasure rather than a chore.

Best bits about working at Haldane Fisher
Knowing that you have the trust and support of your managers to go out and do your own thing is something that I value very much. To me this is a great example of Haldane Fisher’s progressive attitude to customer service and sales. Oh…. and getting to wear my company tie on special occasions.

Cathy McCormick - Kitchen and Aga Showroom Consultant
Route to current position
I joined Haldane Fisher four years ago as an administrator in our Showroom in Portadown. Since then I quickly gained promotion into the kitchen sales team and learnt about all aspects of kitchen design. Aga is a big part of Haldane Fisher’s showroom offering and I instantly fell in love with the product and the brand.  I am now the Aga Champion for the branch, meaning I am the main point of contact for Aga customers in Portadown.

Best bits about your job
Designing kitchens can be both a challenge and a delight. Assessing the customer’s needs and incorporating that into a design and style that will suit them is very satisfying. I also enjoy communicating to customers the many advantages and benefits of owning an Aga.

Best bits about working at Haldane Fisher
Managers encourage employees to move within the organisation to gain widespread experience of the business. They are also committed to training, and support additional qualifications. During my time with Haldane Fisher I have been able to complete a Bachelor of Science degree through the Open University, managing to graduate on the same day as my husband!
