80/20 Recycling hailed a collaborative success
80/20 Recycling works with Newry timber merchant Haldane Fisher to put their reject timber to community use and next month begins partnerships with Newry & Mourne District Council, the Housing Executive and their contractor OMAC to divert tonnages of quality household furniture away from landfill and back into the community.
The Department of Social Development minister, Margaret Ritchie MLA, paid a visit to 80/20 to see the type of work being done and to talk to the employees and volunteers involved in the scheme.
The flagship project, established last year, is being hailed a collaborative success for uniting Newry & Mourne’s public, private and community sectors. Chairman of 80/20 Recycling, David Haldane said “80/20 Recycling is a true partnership in action between government, health, community and private sectors, to make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities, helping people of all abilities to make change happen in themselves, their community and their environment.”
If you have household furniture to donate, call 028 3026 0942 for free local collection or see www.8020recycling.org for further details of the project.
