Panel Products
Our Panel product portfolio includes Chipboard, OSB, MDF and Plywood.
Chipboard
A versatile product, Chipboard is suitable for all general purposes in construction, in dry or occasionally wet conditions. The most common product we sell is Moisture Resistant(MR) Domestic Flooring P5 T&G which is available in both 18mm and 22mm lengths.
In addition to common MR Chipboard we also offer Egger Protect. This is a P5 MR chipboard faced with a resin paper on both sides of the board providing double protection and preventing moisture ingress. A primary benefit of using this product is that it can be exposed to the elements for 42 days during the building process and can be laid during light rain thus reducing weather related stoppages, resulting in speedier completions. It should be glued with D4 Adhesive leaving a fully sealed working deck. This finshed deck protects against site spoil, impact, and wear and tear of heavy site traffic and moisure.
OSB
Oriented strand board, or OSB, is a tough engineered wood panel product. It is formed by layering strands of wood in specific orientations and then bonding the layers with a resin. It meets the same performance standards as plywood, yet is more cost-effective. OSB has excellent moisture tolerance and is much less susceptible to the stress related problems of plywood, such as warping and ply separation. In addition, OSB has exceptional dimensional stability and a uniform structure with no knots or core voids.
MDF
Medium Density Fibreboard or MDF is a type of hardboard, which is made from wood fibres glued under heat and pressure. It is dense, flat, stiff, has no knots and is easily machined. As it is made up of fine particles it does not have an easily recognisable surface grain and it can therefore be painted to produce a smooth quality surface, it can be cut, drilled, machined and filed without damaging the surface.
Plywood
Plywood is an extremely versatile building material which covers a wide range of applications from wall to floor sheathing. The raw material used in the manufacture of plywood consists of softwood, hardwood or tropical hardwood. Sometimes a combination of different species can be used. Plywood is made up of a number of layers, called plies which are glued together.
Depending on its CE certification Plywood can be used structurally (CE2+) or for non-structural (CE4) applications.
Certain types of Plywood can be used for differing requirements; however to provide the desired performance and service life, they must be correctly specified, detailed, installed and maintained. At Haldane Fisher, we have experts who will guide you towards the right product selection. We supply softwood and hardwood plywood from around the world to cover just about every application.
