Servicing Your AGA

AGAs have been the crown of many kitchens now for well over 80 years. Ask any homeowner about their AGA and they are sure to report nothing but praise for this wonderful multi-talented oven. Used for preparing food, warming the home, and even ideal for drying damp clothing - an AGA is a wonderful addition to any house.

Purchasing an AGA is certainly an investment, and the cost of running an AGA is often a topic that is discussed. However, with new features that allow your oven to be turned on and off, as well as modules working independently of each other, AGA is certainly creating new ways to keep their prices down. However, it’s important to consider all the other benefits that come along with your AGA: cutting down on the need for heating in the kitchen, along with the need for many other appliances such as toasters and kettles.

The lifespan of an AGA is measured in decades, not years. When you invest in one for your home, you are also investing for your family in future years. That is: if cared for correctly.

Not only can the running costs of an AGA be managed by keeping it in proper running order, but your AGA cooker will keep running like a dream for many more years with the right care. Therefore we recommend to you to regularly service your AGA to ensure it maintains efficiency and safety.

Both gas and electric model AGAs should be serviced every 12 months. The AGA Total Control and the AGA Dual Control require an interim service every 2.5 years and a full service every 5 years. Oil AGA cookers should be serviced every 6 months. This service can be booked online through our website: or by telephone on 028 92 633972.

So, what happens during an AGA service?

  • We check the operation of all functional controls and components
  • We test safety devices
  • We confirm correct oil flow rates
  • We clean burners and internal flue ways
  • Inspect and replace rope seals and gaskets
  • Adjust operation of insulating lids and doors
  • Verify level and, if necessary, top up insulation
  • Carry out a visual safety check of oil line and storage tanks
  • Check for gas soundness
  • Check integrity and safety of electrical connections and insulation
  • Ensure flue system and ventilation is correct
  • Clean circulation and/or even venting fans

All our engineers are fully certified AGA engineers who are able to offer advice and information on how to get the best out of your AGA.

We’ll even send you a text reminder the night before to ensure you turn your AGA off so it is cool and safe to service.
